Lisa Akers brings over 19 years of professional experience spanning both corporate and nonprofit sectors. She has led operations across multiple functional areas, including Financial Management and Government Relations, with a strong focus on organizational efficiency and cross-functional coordination. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and four children.

Having spent over 30 years spearheading projects for federal government clients, Kevin Todd is a natural fit on the leadership team at GenTech. His experience ranges from program management to financial operations to systems development and more. Kevin started his professional career as a financial management officer in the United States Marine Corps and is a member of both the Society of Defense Financial Management (SDFM) and AGA.

KATELYN HESTON

Katelyn Heston is Vice President of HR and Talent Acquisition at GenTech Associates, where she leads enterprise-wide talent strategy, workforce planning, and HR operations aligned to the firm’s growth objectives. With more than a decade of progressive leadership experience, she has built and scaled high-performing recruiting functions across consulting, technology, and professional services environments. Katelyn specializes in executive search, organizational design, and operational excellence, partnering closely with senior leadership to drive performance and sustainable growth. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, she brings strategic discipline and a people-first leadership philosophy to her work.

Travis Heston serves as Vice President of GenTech’s Staffing Solutions division, bringing over 20 years of experience in the staffing industry. He leads strategic growth initiatives while delivering high-quality workforce solutions across a wide range of sectors.

Travis focuses on building strong client partnerships, strengthening recruitment operations, and expanding GenTech’s market presence. He is dedicated to connecting organizations with the right talent while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within his team.

Cameo Gibson brings more than 20 years of experience in federal, state, and commercial accounting, including several years managing complex projects. She is a PMP-certified professional with a strong track record of supporting client success and operational excellence.

Cameo has successfully developed and grown GenTech’s Austin-area team year over year by building strong client relationships and leading high-performing teams that deliver consistent, high-quality results.

Gabe Kapfhammer brings over 15 years of experience serving clients in both the public and private sectors, with a focus on audit, risk management, and internal controls. He began his career as a federal employee and later gained experience with Big 4 and mid-level firms before joining GenTech.

Gabe is dedicated to delivering high-quality client support and building strong professional relationships. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, staying active, teaching online for his alma mater, traveling, and making new connections.

Marcie is an accomplished financial executive with extensive experience in financial management, audit, and organizational accountability. She brings a strategic approach to financial leadership, providing actionable insights and sound guidance that help organizations navigate resource challenges, strengthen transparency, and support informed decision-making. As a Certified Public Accountant, Marcie combines technical expertise with practical business acumen to drive financial integrity and operational excellence. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Accountancy from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio.

Summary: Kimberly Whitfield brings nearly two decades of experience supporting and optimizing organizational operations. Her expertise includes program and administrative operations, project support, and strategic process development across a variety of organizational environments.

Kimberly began her professional career in the United States Air Force, where she developed the leadership, discipline, and commitment to service that continue to guide her work today.

Kevin Jones brings over 20 years of accounting experience across federal, state, and nonprofit agencies. He is a PMP-certified professional with a proven ability to lead teams, develop talent, and deliver high-quality results.

After attending Florida State University, Kevin moved to Austin, Texas, where he currently supports the Department of Veterans Affairs by applying his expertise to drive organizational success.

CRAIG SMITH

Craig Smith serves as a Director at GenTech Associates and brings more than 25 years of frontline experience in fire services, EMS, and emergency preparedness. He applies proven principles from high-stakes emergency responses to address complex challenges in government contracting, program management, operational efficiency, risk management, and training management.

Craig excels at designing and delivering practical, results-oriented training programs that enhance team readiness, ensure compliance, and drive performance improvement. His commitment to clients is captured in his personal motto: “No matter how big or small, every issue is a priority in someone’s eyes.” Outside of work, Craig enjoys quality time with his family and friends, caring for his four dogs, and relaxing at the parks and the beach.

Carolyn is the Director of Finance at GenTech Associates. She brings over 36 years of experience in finance and previously served as a Manager at Blu and Co. Carolyn supports the organization’s financial operations and provides leadership within the finance department.

Ryan brings 14 years of experience in internal controls, Business Process Re-engineering (BPR), Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), and management consulting. He has a strong track record of helping organizations improve processes, strengthen risk management, and enhance operational efficiency. Ryan is known for his strong management, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with a consistent focus on delivering measurable results. He is well-versed in OMB A-123 and has supported multiple federal agencies, including the Air Force, U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), and the Navy.

San Romano is an accomplished finance and accounting leader with 18 years of progressive experience driving transformation, technical accounting excellence, and risk mitigation across major public and private organizations. His background includes leadership roles at top-tier consulting firms such as EY, Accenture, Deloitte, and IBM, where he led large cross-functional teams and delivered complex financial, technical accounting, and ERP integration solutions for federal defense clients.

Mr. Romano is recognized for his expertise in U.S. GAAP, government contracting, asset accounting, audit remediation, and internal controls. He has served as a trusted advisor to executive leaders, helping organizations strengthen accounting policies, remediate material weaknesses, and enhance financial reporting accuracy. He is passionate about developing talent, driving innovation, and implementing scalable financial solutions that improve audit readiness and operational efficiency.

Tiara is a detail-oriented and versatile financial professional with over 16 years of experience across both private industry and the federal sector. She brings more than 14 years of specialized federal consulting experience within the Department of Defense, where she has supported financial operations as an analyst with a strong focus on Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) initiatives across Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia.

Currently serving as Program Manager for GenTech’s DARPA contract, Tiara oversees program execution, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and high-quality deliverables. She is recognized for her analytical expertise, leadership, and commitment to mission success.

Tiara holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, with a minor in Business Administration, from Frostburg State University. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, taking gymnastics classes, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Cole has 6 years of experience at GenTech, leading training initiatives, developing policies and procedures, and enhancing organizational learning programs. Cole has successfully achieved an IACET accreditation for the GenTech Training Team, demonstrating expertise in training program development, compliance, and continuous improvement. With this experience, Cole is able to provide team management, customer service, and is able to create effective learning environments that support organizational goals and employee development.

Kimberly holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, an MBA, and Microsoft Power BI Data certification.

Jake joined GenTech Associates in 2022 as a Recruiter supporting the company’s State Staffing division. Since then, he has advanced into a leadership role, overseeing a team of recruiters and driving the continued growth of the State Staffing program. Under his leadership, the division has expanded to include healthcare and medical staffing services, helping clients meet critical workforce needs while maintaining GenTech’s commitment to quality talent solutions.
